@macmyc did you apply any CPU tweaks other than undervolting? I undervolted by 70mV then by 100mV but can't get more than 670-678cb and 81fps on cinebench R15. I am curious how you and others get 687cb and 98fps!

Macmyc's score vs My score before undervolt: 687cb vs 660cb
Machmyc's score vs My score after undervolt: 684cb vs 678cb

    Macmyc's OPENGL score vs My OPENGL score: 98fps (GTX1060) vs 81fps(GTX1070) !!

    Screenshots in spoiler below.

Note: @macmyc has GTX1060 while I have GTX1070. And he is not using Throttlestop. My 3DMark scores are very good. So how come?

Extremely disappointing because i cannot think of any other reason why my performance is crippled like that. How come the GTX1060 scores much higher than my GTX1070 on OpenGL test?!

Thanks. You recently updated your BIOS. Can you please rerun the OpenGL test? 98fps vs 81fps is very weird for GTX1060 vs GTX1070 respectively.

    Did you overclock your GPU?

I have 118.8 fps of OpenGL and 650-670 CPUs with disable Cpu C states.
And 106.9 fps OpenGL and 684 CPUs with enable Cpu C states.

All these synthetic tests do not make any sense. They can be done endlessly and still they will not make sense.
The mobile processor of the notebook is limited by energy-saving technologies and it will constantly work differently.
The operation of the video card and processor also depends on the performance modes, OS scales, and drivers

    Thanks Semmy.

But everybody seems to consistently have a higher opengl score than mine, especially owners with gtx1060 while i have gtx1070. It is alarming in my opinion. Wolfenstein the old blood is an opengl game.

so i have had my MSI GT62VR 6RE for about a year and i want to know if i can upgrade the GTX 1070 to a 1080 and if so what MXM version do you think i will need. also im not sure about the difference in power requirements...(the max wattage that power brick can put out is 290... so idk)

i only want to upgrade because i want to use this machine for VR but i am worried that some of the games say the recommended graphics card is a 1080 (im looking into getting OrbusVR) and i dont want to have VR sickness... (i havent tried it at all anyway as i am getting my oculus + touch in about 2 or 3 weeks)

I guess that is not possible without some heavy modifications to the heatsink and possibly even the chassis of the laptop. If i remember correctly the 1080 mxm card is bigger and you need to dissipate more heat.
