It really is a great card, and I imagine it will overclock nicely. Being a first gen card, I imagine they left some major headroom. That way when they release revisions they will most likely be higher binned and higher clocked cards. The temperatures are what is most impressive for me. I love that its a 75watt card vs 100watt? 980m. It makes it great for the GT60/70 systems. The GT72 is probably better suited for the higher end card with its better cooling. Although the GT60 handled the even higher wattage 780m just fine. Though I gamed with turbo fan on, especially for a game like BF4.

    Now the question..

Do I try and flash the vBios with the MSI vBios? Anyone have any experience flashing a Clevo card with MSI bios?

I would love to get around the need to use modified drivers for installation, although I haven't noticed any abnormalities gaming or benching with them. Performance is butter smooth and runs great. I would hate to brick a brand new $450 card.

I remembered when I purchased a 680m card last year, the seller said it's for MSI nb.. but its color blue (blue for clevo/sager) and have a bracket which I removed it successfully. then I saw svl7's modded vbios. I also successfully updated the vbios without any problems..

I think if your card is running fine with a stock clevo vbios and would like to update to msi then it wont brick.. Unless you update it with other manufacturer vbios like for AW.

Memory overclock will never give much in a 720p benchmark ;)

Hmm really? I thought all overclocked 970m is about this score? My 4900MQ also helps bump up the overall score a bit. Though I have it stock and undervolted a good bit as well.

Meaker correct. I upped the Memory to +400 and it pushed the score a tad bit higher, but nothing to write home about.

I'll have to wait for an unlocked vBios to really push that core and see what it can do. I am hoping it has a good bit more on stock voltage because I don't want to mess around with that just yet.

Hey TwelveDiamond welcome to the forums! Stick around here and you will definitely learn a lot.

What exactly do you not understand what I did to the heatsink? You can clearly see the tiny area I modified with a dremel. It literally took me about 5 minutes.

look at this 3dmark score for AW. They're still testing the vbios i guess but still have issues with those types of NB.. anyway the 3gb variant for 970m scores reached only 6k plus NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-4710HQ,Alienware 0146Q8
Just like with MSI GE series with 970m.

Nah thats 3dmark Firestrike haha.. I downloaded that today and will install and check my score. I am going to assume it will be very similar though.
