I got it. Thank you very much mate!

Never seen such a good (unlocked) BIOS with so many options in a notebook before. I just switched the memory profile to XMP1 (2666 MhZ) and now CPU-Z shows the correct memory speed. :)

The GE75 with the RTX 2070 is indeed a great machine. I am very happy with it.

The fan noise is very aceptable. In addition I've set in Windows 10 energy options the maximum CPU speed from 100% to 99% and the fan runs much quieter.

Well friends, it appears I will be leaving the GE75 in a month or so... I ended up getting an offer I could not refuse on a 51m fully loaded...

Honestly my laptop never leaves my desk (or if it does it’s a rare occasion), so I ended up deciding that a desktop processor and (potentially) upgradable card outweighed any mobility factor. I also like to tinker and push devices hard, so it seems like a good fit for me.

That and they offered me like $1000 in incentives.

It seems I have become an impromptu RTX mobile reviewer here just trying to find the right system for me... Jeez.

My total price ended up being about $1000 more vs my GE75, but I can’t really complain when getting a 9700k and a 2080 with the full 180w TDP.

Now I just have to bank on intel not dropping the LGA 1151 next gen and dell releasing more proprietary socketed video cards...

I’m hoping to get 2-4 years of life out of this thing... At least until the end of my masters.

Side note, I’m still more then happy to help GE75 owners with tweaking :)

Where? How? Several tries and the best managed from dell was like $500 cheaper. XoticPc being much cheaper than their price.

AW Area 51m imo is not really 'portable' unlike the GE75. That thing is for plugging in and rarely if ever moving.

I was gonna go with the Sager 9176 with a 9900k, before I decided to go with the GE75; I can't wait for it to arrive! The i9's just aren't outperforming the i7 8750h to justify the price and weight difference.
