Can't say I have noticed any difference so far but I have not used the computer a whole lot since installing.

    Proud owner of a new 9SF (i7-9750H, 2070 Max-Q, 1TB SSD but only 16GB ram) reporting in. :)

Previously had a Gigabyte Aero and it was VERY important to back up the recovery image of that unit.

Is it the same with MSI laptops? Or can I just pre-download drivers (Wifi, audio, latest Nvidia etc) and do a fresh install of Windows? I'm hoping to keep the FN+ shortcut key functionality if possible.

It works just fine with a fresh install.

I would recommend not downloading dragon center and instead using the steelseries application for RGB/functions and silent option for fan control.

I love how active these forums are!

Great, thanks for the tip. Some existing pre-installed software is already ensuring that my dGPU is always engaged, very annoying!

Also, where does one get Silent Option? I only see a link from MSI to a version from 2015

Its probably the dragon center. Exit it.

Windows key is embedded in the BIOS therefore you can easily install a clean Windows 10 image and it will be fine.

Just uninstall the stuff you don't need. I've benchmarked stock vs fresh windows and there wasn't any effect to performance.

Its not. I use dragon center and the dgpu switches off when not in use. The main culprits in my testing is either msi afterburner running in the background, or faulty drivers(need to be uninstalled with DDU then install new drivers)
