I need to extract the bios find the cpu code.bin and add the microcode into that. Does the msi have a uefi bios or not? I'm sure it doesn't but just in case.

You can probably get Temps down my adding more fins to heat exchanger but that will be much more labor intensive than adding pipes

It turns out the mod can be done but the heatsink can't handle it unless the IHS is taken off and the heatsink is applied DIRECTLY to the die with metal paste, then there is a chance that the temps stay at a reasonable level even when overclocking.
This laptop fits my criteria too, I wish there was a 17'' version though.

Slightly too bulky for my liking, plus the msi (a GT62VR without the BGA) doesn't look like a full blown gaming laptop. I like it's kinda formal design layout. Plus I have a feeling MSI will continue to make mxm cards for this laptop. Not saying they will be regular mxm cards, of course not. But I have a hunch this laptop will be future proof.

Edit: And since the mxm slot can handle upto 180w on burst power the future isn't looking too dark for this laptop anyway.

Follow win-raid's step , modify to BIOS: add microcode , do pcie patch and switch ME'sku to z370, it can work with cfl i5 up to 8600k . but cfl i7 with ht cannot boot.
or port bios from g25(z370),can boot cfl i7 with ht , but need fix some acpi parts. i haven't done this ,now have usb and graphic issue that i can't fix, that's too difficult for me.

I have read the fourm but how did you manage to boot with coffee lake cpu on integrated? This laptop doesn't support that. Will the laptop boot up with the modified bios without pci patch on mxm graphics card?
