With the right BIOS mod and CPU mod, it should work fine. Probably won't be able to keep it cool enough to use it. The P870DM-G heat sink is designed for a 6700K, as is the Tornado F5 heat sink. It is a real chore keeping it cool even with an insignificant 47x6 overclock. With a 7700K, the Tornado F5 runs much hotter than the P870DM-G. On that basis, I would not recommend it unless you are going to build a new/better heat sink for the Tornado F5.

How did it work with 8th core? AS I know, P870DMG can work with 870TM1's BIOS, however it speakers not work.

That might work. Not sure if the 12V fans from the P870DM3 will fit in the chassis or not, but that would certainly help. @j95 was thinking along the same lines with a device like that. Even running the stock 5V fans at 12V might rev them up enough to improve the temps without harming them.

Brother @bloodhawk was kind enough to send me a P870DM3 heat sink to do a modding experiment with added heat pipes. I just got it today. (Thanks @bloodhawk.)The temps between the two stock heat sinks (DM-G vs DM3) is pretty much identical. Running stock core clock ratios and stock ring ratio with 1.100V core voltage temps are respectable. Maybe Brother @Papusan will be doing the 8700K mod as well.

    Dont do it!

5v fans with 12v will burn and wont spin no more.

The controllers in them are made for specific voltages and they dont stand a lot of over-voltage(at most +/-10%, go above that and you get Kentucky Fried FETs), I fried a 3.3v laptop fan by giving her 5v because I didn't read the label carefully and grabbed the wrong part number.

You need voltage boost or new pwm controller, today you can find amazing device for doing that.

Clevo fans in P870 don't work by PWM, only by variable voltage

Putting a 12V source at ~40% pwm duty cycle (to average 5V) into a 5V fan may in fact still blow it up due to there being spikes of 12V

I just missed a lot of conversation late on party lol

@Mr. Fox Hi bro I have a question on the bois used with the i7 8700k can it work with other 8ths gen cpus or it's only for the i7?

Hi @jaybee83 for me if the costum bois worked with the I5 8600k it's good upgrade in my opinion a cpu with 6 cores/6 threads and even clock to clock this cpu almost catch the i7 7700k performance in both gaming/productivity https://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/3157-intel-i5-8600k-review-overclocking-vs-8700k-8400/page-3 add on that it's between 50$ to 100$ range less then the i7 7700k this saved money can go for GPU or more powerful PSU.
for me a gtx 1060 it's a good upgrade from gtx 970m the only thing is does it work and thermals the invitable problem of all time.
