Congrats on the new system, what sort of temps are you seeing if I may ask?

This would be interesting to see.

I've read about people getting vapor chamber heatsinks or even watercooling for clevo systems from places like Taobao. That would be something I'd like to have, however it's likely that it wouldn't suit the clevo 1070 (I'd really like to be proven wrong).

    This sort of thing:

The most challenging aspect of the P870DM-G is the MXM slot placement that massively complicates GPU upgrades because nothing fits. If not for that, it would still be truly spectacular in every respect.

My project was fun, but it was way too much work and I'd probably not do it again because of that one issue in particular.

On idle it sits around 30s for CPU and 40s for GPU. When I game on it, temps are around 60s for both.
The machine still has stock heatsinks (not vapour chamber) and stock fans (quite loud).

I plan to put a vapour chamber for single 1070, so temps can be better.

The P870DM2 is a much better option than P870DM-G. Primarily so because you don't have nearly as much complication with the MXM slot placement being wrong for everything that came after the P870DM-G.

To me, it is nearly a perfect machine if they don't change the MXM form.

Indeed. Best laptop I ever owned and I think the best one ever made. I think it is utterly retarded that it was discontinued. I wish I still had my DM3 with 1080 SLI. I sold it to fund going back to desktops. I don't regret that part, but I wish I could have afforded both.

That vapor chamber has 400W capacity, so even if you OC and power mod, it'll still run cool.

Does the vapour chamber fit RTX cards? I will not upgrade now as the GTX 1070 still hold up pretty good. Just a note for future upgrade.

It needs to be modified with a dremel tool, because of component layout on RTX20x0 pcb.

It made no sense to EOL the P870 line, instead they should have beefed up the cooling and adapted chassis for single card.
