Thats a clean looking receiver. Ever since my Marantz started sounding like crap I went back to the good old integrated amps, Don't ever want to look back.

My only real complaint is the lack of bass that this receiver puts out. Being that this is my first 5.1 channel receiver, I don't know if this is what is to be expected from a surround unit. This is why I want to add that subwoofer that I mentioned earlier.

Its not a 5.1 system if it doesn't have a subwoofer. the '.1' part is the subwoofer. It would be a 5.0 surround sound system. Technicalities aside, I wouldn't expect much bass without a subwoofer unless you are running pretty nice speakers.

And lets remember kids, adding more speakers doesn't always make it sound better. ;)

Yeah, I knew that the .1 was the subwoofer. While my speakers aren't exactly what you would call high end, they're alright. The Sansui SP-200 speakers are nearly 50 years old, but still sound amazing for their age. The Bose 4.2 Series II speakers are from the mid-90's and are used as my front speakers. Eventually, I'll add the subwoofer. I could actually take the Pioneer subwoofer from my Vizio soundbar, but I use that when I'm playing games. I also haven't been able to really test out the receiver since I got home at 10 and would prefer to not anger the neighbors. Eventually, everything will come together. I actually added my Technics SH-8017 graphic equalizer to the mix. That will eventually get replaced with an EQ that has a spectrum analyzer on it (I like seeing the bars go up and down).

The EQ I want is similar to this one.
