The Ever-Growing Free Mac OS X Software List
    Nicholas M. (tHE j0KER)

    Well, Windows has one(http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-ever-growing-free-windows-software-list.html)

Please post software recommendations. If you have any questions about a program or a certain program you can't seem to find, please post and I'll do my best to find or answer your question.

Guidelines For Making It To The List

I take no responsibility for any damage caused by installing any applications listed here, so proceed at your own risk. I will try to test out every application on my Macbook Pro 17 running OS X 10.6.4, but not every application will be tested, and any applications that are tested will not be fully tested.

Everything is in this post; you don't need to search the entire thread. Links to where you can download the software are provided for every item.

It is recommended that you ask here for software recommendations.

I will try to maintain which software has been newly added to the list, and will unmark software that has been on the list for more than a month.

If a link is broken, please let me know and if you can, let me know if the link has changed to something else. If there is no working link available, it will be removed.

The link for an application must point to a page with an English translation.

The software must be free, legal, and not promotional.

Please provide a safe link to the main page for the software.

The provided link should point to an information page about the application. Please do not supply a link that automatically downloads the application, as people would first want to read up on what the application does before deciding to download it.

Only items that have actual releases (alpha or beta or official) will be posted. Please do not send a link that has "upcoming" software.

If a posted link leads to a page that has pop-ups, it will be disallowed.

Handbrake! I don't even use Macs, but I know how good that program is because I use it as a PC application.

and dare I say Wineskin, but thats probably just cuz I make it :p Category that would go under? i have no idea.. its partly a development tool.. and then whatever else Wine would go under. Some people say emulators, but its not an emulator. But you may want to hold off unless someone else mentions it as I may be biased.

Movist for Media Playing App. Similar the VLC except IMO better quality and less bugged.

its not actually an emulator... Wine kind of is, but isn't really... Wineskin itself is more of a development tool for making a cheap port of a windows app over to Macs. It has a lot more in it than just Wine. I really don't know what kind of category it would go under.
