The best free security software

    AVG is the only one I've tried that doesn't hog resources and bog down my system. Do you have any other recommendations that would be as easy on resources, but better at detection? :confused:

    Antivir would be the best one i could recommend to you. Avast is good but it's kinda heavy on resources.

    Does anyone have links and information comparing effectiveness and resource usage of Free AVG Vs. Avira AntiVir Classic Vs. avast! Home Edition? :confused:

    They are pretty much the same thing so i guess it shouldn't make any difference.

    Try Avira AntiVir....I'm checking it out now on a Sony Laptop....

    I already have antivir, and i un-installed avg earlier today too.

    OK, after some googling Ativir seems best. Have you guys noticed more resource usage than AVG?

    Seat of the pants, AntiVir seems lite on the Sony Laptop (a 400 buck Best Buy Doorbuster deal) :D. I haven't used AVG in years so I can't compare exactly.
