^ as far as I remember, if you're using the 64bit OS then you need to make a bootable CD to flash your laptop.

No such problem when using 32bit OS

Unfortunately I don't know exactly what "error 99 (179)" means. Try to turn on "Flash Over LAN" in BIOS setup (Config -> Network section -> Enable Flash on LAN).

    UPDATE:
I download the BIOS file 2.29-1.08 from www.ali-dj.de
it contains good how to section, update was done with bios CD. All i have to do was deactivate Security Chip in Bios security settings to prevent BITLOCKER error (99) before flashing.
Now my lenovo does fine with double ssd speed!

    Thank you - thank middleton!

    Dear Forum, dear Middleton,

First: Hello Forum, i am a t61 user looking for the BIOS Update for sataII support as i now upgrade my lenovo with samsung ssd 830 128 MB.
I now want to upgrade (like everyone else here) with your modified bios, but of course be careful not to destroy my lovely book.

mine is lenovo 6466-5wg model, processor t7250 2ghz, win xp sp3 with all updates. bios is version 7LETC7WW (2.27)

Which version of modified bios fits me?

for your information: i updated some bios but never the one of my lenovo.

I searched a lot, but don't find an easy how to for safe bios flashing. It would be very helpful for me to give me some hints. as i read, it's not recommended to flash via windows update utility, so would like to chose the update via bootable cd.

So can someone give me the steps for update my bios?

    Thank you in advance,

    CB

Attached you find two pics of system configuration.

I have a T61 running Win 7 32-bit, in which I recently installed an SSD.

I've flashed with the 2.29 1.08 Middleton BIOS but neither the swap nor non-swap versions have been able to take me back the Fn - Ctrl - Win - Alt order in my 'normal' world.

I've looked at the phlase log and it seems to suggest both swap success and failure.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Regards
    Mark

Hooray! All seems to back to normal now. After a bit more reading through this thread, I then ran the non swap flash.bat file version from the command prompt rather than just launching the .exe file.

I Have your BIOS installed and i`m very happy. do you have a BIOS which i can use a GOBI 2000 WWAN card on my T61p 8889-ALG. at the moment i have taped PIN 20, but FN F5 and the hardwareswitch doesn`t work. the card ist original lenovo an the Hardware ID`s are.

    USB\VID_05C6&PID_9205&REV_0002&MI_00
    USB\VID_05C6&PID_9205&MI_00

Do you have a one klick or a one flash solution with SATA 2 Mod and wlan-whitelist? i use win 7 x64.

    thanks in advance

    Dear Middleton,

    I'm having a T61 8896-2FG with Bios 2.29 (7LETC9WW) updated from lenovo system update (T7300 4GB ram).

I'd like to change my hdd to an ssd sata II

If i'll try to change the bios to version from table given on 8th page anything can happen? (i know that table says nothing about 8896 model - maybe You can tell something more)

Did Any other user try to change lenovo's 2.29 to middleton's 2.29 on 8896 or other not mentioned model from the table?

You'll have to drop back to 2.27/1.08 because 2.29 will NOT upgrade a bios with the same internal date. So re-flash 2.27/1.08 and then flash the Middleton 2.29/1.08 version.

All T61's are covered by the same flash software.

    Good luck!

Quick question for those with a x61t,

I flashed the Middleton bios for SSD reading support. If I get a SSD SATA III drive, will the machine deny any usage of the drive? Or will the drive run but at the max of 3GB SATA 2 speed?

Any errors or hiderance from the SATA III?
