What error message did you get? If it's "BIOS image file cannot be found.", then you use wrong BIOS which is not intended for your machine.

Tell me your current BIOS Version and Embedded Controller Version (Determining which version is installed).

I own a T61 7661-CTO 14.1" widescreen with 1394 and without Bluetooth. As my device is not listed in your compatibility list, I wanted to ask if I might use your Bios file for T61's for my Thinkpad.

    Thanks in advance

All T61/T61p models use one common BIOS. According to Lenovo you may use this BIOS for ANY T61/T61p machine.

Thank you very much, didn't know that. I'm going to try the BIOS in the next couple days.

ThinkPads that have 7KETxxxx BIOS ID:

    R61 (14.1" widescreen without IEEE 1394): 7732, 7733, 7734, 7735, 7736, 7737, 7738
    R61 (15.4" widescreen): 8914, 8918, 8919, 8920, 8927, 8928, 8929
    R61i (15.4" widescreen): 8918

In theory, you should use BIOS for these machines (last row in the table, see page 8). But Lenovo doesn't mention "ThinkPad R61i 14.1 inch widescreen without IEEE 1394" in the supported models list (see here). However you can find this laptop in the supported models list here.

Don't know what it means. Anyway, if you decide to flash the patch, then you do it at your own risk. Maybe Lenovo had serious reasons to exclude your ThinkPad from the list of supported models.

middleton, thanks a lot for this BIOS.

My X61s arrived damaged a few weeks ago, just replaced the broken parts today and want to thank you for your work. Enable SATAII allowed me to install a Crucial M4 SSD and this thing really flies now.

    :D :D

Will definitely send a donation your way next payday.

    Middleton -

For some unknown reason I cannot get the BOIS to load - error 99 (170)
I have tried removing Removing TPM, stopping bitllocker (which should not be active - using 64 bit Win 7), always errors out at end.

    T61 (7663-WDM) 64 bit version W7

    TIA

^ as far as I remember, if you're using the 64bit OS then you need to make a bootable CD to flash your laptop.

No such problem when using 32bit OS.

    - shall I not forget to send a ton of thanks to middleton again for the wonderful work :D
