I have decided to do a clean install of Windows Vista and this is starting to bug me.

In the rescue and recovery portion of the clean install, I have developed some problems. My problem is......I have completed the burning of the "rescue and recovery start-up disc" and "start recovery disc". I have tried to finish the process but am unable to do so.

I started with a CD-R disc for the "start-up disc" and the second is another CD-R disc. The problem is with the second disc. I have tried to complete the process using the same CD-Rs and nothing works. I have then tried to use DVD-Rs and DVD+Rs which neither work.

What would be the best way to complete this process? Getting new CD-Rs and starting the process over.

    I definitely need help.

EDIT: The OS is Vista Business with a SBB CD-RW/DVD-ROM COM UBAYSLIM as a cd/dvd rom drive.

What types of blank DVDs (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD/RW, etc) or CDs (CD-R, CD/RW, etc) should I get to complete the process?

With the DVD-ROM drive and not the recordable, you're not going to be burning any DVDs, just reading them. Can you be a little more specific on what happens when you say nothing works with the CDs? As for type, I'd suggest a CD-R .

The problem occurs when I put a new blank CD-R in the drive to complete some of the recovery and rescue process, a message box shows up displaying "please replace disc with drive with enough space or the disc may be closed."

I knew I should have gotten the CD/DVD-RW when I ordered the T61, just another thing to add to the list of upgrades to do in the future.

I restored the whole computer to factory settings like when I recieved it. I will get a new pack of CD-Rs tomorrow and try to complete the rescue and recovery process tomorrow as well as starting on my clean install. This will give me something to do after my wisdom teeth operation tomorrow.

    Update on situation....

I got a new pack of CD-Rs to continue the process. I ended up starting all over by first restoring the computer to factory state. I ended up with a total 5 CD-Rs, but for some reason I dont believe this to be the complete process. The T61 still asking for more blank CD-Rs. The CD-Rs I got today are no longer working for the process. A message box pops up stating......

there is not enough free space on the disc to perform this operation

data was not successfully stored on the disc currently in the disc drive
this disc may no longer be usable

click ok then insert a new disc when prompted

any ideas on what to do.
