I was not sure if this should be posted on the XPS or Precision subforum.

As the title says I am looking to swap in a precision 5540 motherboard into my XPS-9570. This is to primarily get a Quadro graphics card for CAD. From all the images I see the screw locations and the connectors are identical. The Chassis aside for these two models are also the same visually except for the webcam placement. Has anyone done this swap with this generation of laptops? Anything I should be wary of?

My guess is that you won't find anyone that has done this. It would likely be cheaper to sell your XPS and buy a Precision. Having said that, it would likely work. Why don't you just run the studio drivers for your XPS? That's basically the advantage of a Quadro over the GTX in this case (well and the Quadros are down-clocked to help with stability). Seems like a lot of work with no real return.
