Im really just looking for an in between machine while others get updated to 8th gen intel.

I really only browse the web and watch netflix on this machine.

Would the surface pro 3 still do this ok? I can get one for 1/3 the price of a surface pro 4 and forget the surface pro late 17.

Would you go the Surface Pro 3 with 8GB and 256GB SSD or an Ipad?

I upgraded from the Surface Pro 3 recently, but the machine, even though I bought the smallest modell back then, still is capable of doing all the stuff you need in terms of office, presentaion and even low end gaming. I have had no battery problems either. The capacitiy (after 3 years) pointed out by the battery report was still above 92% or so... I`d say: got for it. They are cheap and still powerfull. I sold mine for 400€.

    Best regards

    P.S.: Forget about the iPad...

For those uses, just about any $.10 laptop would work.
I would not get a SP3 unless it was $400 or under. Prices on those should be way down, due to the age now.
