Huh, intel seems to have already settled a similar case in 2017 as well to this same patent holder.

Patent trolling is extremely common. This thread is just another excuse to throw shade at Apple.

At this point any day you can do that is a good day. Apple throwing around baseless claims and putting up charts showing NOTHING only 2 lines with meaningless data they deserve every bit of shade they can get. Not to mention the prepear nonsense. Apple, like Elvis, has left the building, in my household and good riddance.

They may have left your household but the amount of time you put into posting Apple articles really shows where they went to.

@GrandesBollas. And apple's "environmental policies" are laughable. We are removing chargers, etc for the good of the environment. But hey we are removing ports from your computers, so you need to buy more things and toss out the other perfectly fine things. I love the hypocrisy of apple. The lemmings eat it up! Hey, we will stand on the roof of our huge building with solar panels and tell you how we are saving the world.

Apple's exclusion of the included charger is fined in Brazil sweclockers.com | Today

Misleading marketing, poor water resistance and "problems with certain features" - now Apple is fined in Brazil.

When Apple launched the Iphone 12, they chose to discard the previously included charger. The arguments for this were, among other things, that it was better from an environmental aspect and that many already have working chargers at home. It was not accepted by the Brazilian authority Procon-SP, which at the end of 2020 warned the mobile giant that fines were to be expected if they did not present a recycling plan for old chargers or start including them in the purchase again.

Now they have made a move in the matter, and Apple is fined 2 million dollars , equivalent to about 17 million kroner. The fine is issued in part due to the problems surrounding the chargers, as well as a number of other consumer law problems that Procon-SP believes Apple has failed to address. This includes the refusal to repair or replace water-damaged units that have been marketed as watertight and "problems with certain functions" after updates to Ios.

Procon-SP believes that Apple has not understood or complied with the "solid consumer law legislation" that exists in Brazil. The authority also accuses Apple of conditions for being designed to avoid liability for hidden faults and defects.

If Apple wants to continue its sales in Brazil, it may need to negotiate an agreement in Brazil. Brazilian authorities have previously forced a deal with Samsung on the same issue, where a charger was eventually included as a "gift" with pre-bookings of the Galaxy S21.

Apple has not yet commented on the incident and whether they choose to appeal is not yet known. Apple has already had sales of over $ 100 billion by 2021, making the fine relatively low. The amount of the fine is probably less costly than another lawsuit, which makes it possible for them to pay the fine and move on.
