Suggest me a car for ~8k

    nope,2006-7 VW are ~8-9k at some websites and 1-2k cheaper at dealers that I called...

    They do look nice for some, but I have many friends that have been shafted for hundreds of dollars above what the general market value for a part would be. If you can, you might want to look at any dealer warranty options, if available. I love my Ford Ranger '00, it's reliable, safe, easy to fix yourself, cheap, and will run in thick and thin. You can definitely find a post 2000 (airbags and such) 4x4 in your price bracket. Also, a Honda/Toyota compact or mini-suv are also good options for your budget. High reliability with a longer than normal life. They do have expensive service and parts, but they will run considerably longer than other cars. I did 6 months of research for my truck and have been continuously learning about the compacts, as my sister will need a car soon. Best of luck with what ever you choose!
