Just saying, maybe it's worthwhile to add detailed specs/OS and imperfections etc. etc. Cos ppl might wanna choose lesser of the devils (e.g. Intel's **** iGPU vs M$ windows 10)
Windows 10 is known to open a window to your privacy and also re-enable driver signature check/secure/ fastboot to rape you every single ****ing update which you have no way to stop.

For example, Quadro P5000m only works on M6700 with no brightness control. And GTX 1060/GTX 1070 won't work on HP 8770w under windows 7 due to lack of legacy ROM.....

Is there a UEFI function, because maybe you can run the 1060N in dedicated mode. You wouldn't be able to run the EURO 1070 though.

Made a mistake..... 8770w works with GTX 1070 and 1060 under pure UEFI mode, but that means you have to choose btw windows 10 with newer graphics, or windows 7 with older graphics if you have dreamcolor

It's LVDS converted from eDP. When you have Dream Color installed the iGPU is disabled by default. And since iGPU is disabled there is no way to enable oprtimus and hence no legacy ROM support for the pascal cards, one would have to go with windows 10

so there's an internal port that does mxm edp -> lvds output to dreamcolor panel?

but if you don't have dreamcolor, it's possible to use native edp and therefore use 10xx series as dgpu exclusively without optimus?

The color mapping board does eDP => LVDS conversion as well as hardware LUT.

Without dreamcolor panel it's not possible to do dGPU alone either cos all 1080p screens at that era are LVDS.
Also, without dreamcolor there's no point for getting HP workstations.

    Ah, that's interesting to know.

So optimus is the only option for 10xx cards regardless in the HP.

At least it's better than the retarded ThinkPad W-series with soldered GPU.
