I completely forgot about this. :p

A few days before I was going to shipping my Studio 15 off. I looked in the box and low and behold I found the Dell Webcam Center disk that I originally thought that Dell had forgotten to include.

Upon installation I found that the specific version of Dell WC that came with my Studio 15 is not the same one that you find at the downloads center on support.dell.com. I could never get the downloaded Dell WC to work, even after numerous chats with technical support. No matter how many times I contacted Dell about this, they claimed there is only one version of Dell Webcam Center. Clearly that isn't true.

Finally I came to a resolution and I am happy that one problem was simply the result of a misplaced disk.

If anyone needs this specific version because you lost the disk or don't have it, I can upload the necessary files to install it.

    Cheers. :)

Glad it worked out fine for you. Dell can be annoying sometimes.

Here is the link to the download:

    Extract it and run Setup.exe.

    Hey John,
I'm facing the same problem with my Dell Vostro 1510. Its running with Win XP SP3 (32bit). Though I have the Dell resource CD and earlier I formatted my laptop and reinstalled using the same CD. But this time after reformatting, I installed this version of XP and since then, it has been showing this problem.
Can you please suggest some solution or provide a link for the driver?
    Thanks.
    Regards.

I have a Dell Studio 1558 and was having problems with the webcam, where everything was saying "No supported webcam" or similar. To get the webcam working for either Dell Webcam Central or the FastAccess Facial Recognition software, I had to update the face recognition software. This completely fixed the problem.

To update FastAccess, go into the Start Menu, then All Programs, then the FastAccess Facial Recognition Folder, select "Configure FastAccess" and then click on Advanced and "Check for Updates".

When I did that it downloaded an update and after I restarted the computer picked up the webcam for the face recognition login software and now when I run Dell Webcam Central it automatically disables FastAccess, saying "Face recognition has been temporarily disabled by another application. You may be required to use your password for any login activities." After quitting from Dell Webcam Central, FastAccess says "Face recognition has now resumed."

I realize that this thread is really old, but I just joined this forum and didn't want to start another thread about this same thing. Here it is a year and half after these postings, and the problem is still out there. I've found several other forums in which members have this same problem, and they have found no solutions.

I've tried downloading nine different drivers, all suggested by Dell. Nothing works. I did ask if I could purchase the original source CD, and it is no longer available. If anyone knows where to get it, please let me know. I am desperate to get this software to work.

    Thank you.

Could you please upload those files? I've been looking for those drivers like crazy and unfortunately Dell didn't ship that CD with my laptop. You would do a lot of us a big favor.

    Thanks
