YEAP, exactly how I have it sitting in my "wishlist", albeit with significantly less memory and SSD's...lol

I was going to go with a 500/500GB setup or a 256/500GB drive setup each the 2x16GB ram. I Always separate my OS from Games, this is why I could get away with only a 256. I am running 2x 960GB HyperX Savages, My OS drive is only at 81.9 GB capacity, My Game drive is sitting at 447.6GB (this is only due to having games my kid plays on my computer when I am deployed). Ill only have 4 or 5 AAA titles installed on the laptop. This is without any laser engraving, which I am actually thinking about for EITHER laptop.

To top everything off I use my Gov't laptop for work due to needing a PIV reader. I don't need 2 LAN ports nor will I be running VM's, 99.9% gaming. 0.1% Excel spreadsheets for Expenses.

Actually this is the night and day... bga remains there forever, lga can be replaced, ofc who knows for how long, but at least you have option. And the performance difference is also considerable.

    Exactly!
I abandoned the idea of getting a laptop without a socketed processor. Right now I am looking to build myself a P170SM with an eDP port, because I can't deal with a 5kg monster on my back every day.

Yes that is definitely a major plus with the socket. Though as just an everyday user will I notice a difference. If both units have equal cooling, and sitting at 4.5ghz, will it matter.

I tend to be hesitant on anything that I dont see that often. I see msi, asus and the likes everywhere.

Saying that the performance difference between BGA vs LGA is night and day is a bit of a stretch here. I was a BGA only guy just 2 years back and only switched because I've had enough of Clevo. Did I notice any difference in performance? Maybe in synthetic benchmarks, but none in my own real life experience. an 8950HK clocked at anywhere between 4.3 on 6 cores to 4.8 GHz on 1 core (stock) is more than enough for me and for any power user for that matter. Just my 2 cents.

And before anyone jumps on me about BGA being upgradeable, that is nonsense, we all saw what Clevo did to us with the P870DM where we couldn't upgrade the CPU or GPU to the next gen as they changed the form factor a bit leaving us with a highly diminished value machine since we had to sell it for a loss just to get the new 10XX GPUs.

The likelihood of this is also probably higher than normal again because the new RTX cards are bigger dies etc... Could be another board redesign which would cause problems.

This is my Old Clevo P870DM from 2015 (soon 4 years old). And if I wanted I could put in single 10XX GPU.
