As my sister describes it, any time that a sound plays on her laptop, it sounds like Rice Crispies. I translate that to static. I don't have access to the computer since my sister lives in Woodbridge and I'm in Newport News, at the other end of the state. She says that the static carries over to the headphone jack, so I'm thinking something may be wrong with the sound "card". I'm not sure if this is something that can be replaced, but I do know that some computers can have their audio boards replaced. She wants to try using a USB speaker to remedy the problem and I think that will work as well.

Z60m has the audio chip integrated into the motherboard, so there's no swapping there.

A PCMCIA sound card might be a viable option in this set of circumstances.

    Good luck.
