No it isn't. It's bigger than just this one game. It's clear video games are quickly trending to become nothing more than home based casino games. Considering country governments and now US state governments are getting on board, shows it's more than just a stinking game. It's using gambling tactics in games for minors, which is pretty much illegal in most countries.

"I have seen a lot of angry video gamers in my time going to war against companies for one issue or another, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything like what’s happened with Battlefront 2.

Finally, finally players seems to actually be walking the walk, and voting with their wallets.

Hopefully that brings about big changes for both Battlefront and the industry as a whole."

The same thing happened in Dead Space 3 which sold around 600k units iirc

Only reason for the outrage is that this IP has a much larger audience so the impact is actually much larger considering the lack of sales (when comparing to Dead Space 3 respective market is much smaller I would assume)

I use Dead Space 3 as an example since it was also a game that was converted to be riddled with micro-transactions that was not well received as a result.

'The Last Jedi' Easter Egg Confirms 'Battlefront 2' Luke Jedi Temple Theory
    https://www.inverse.com/article/395...attlefront-2-ii-luke-skywalker-compass-pillio

"A small Easter egg from The Last Jedi explains exactly how Luke Skywalker found the first Jedi Temple on Ahch-To, where he exiled himself for decades until Rey found him, and it has everything to do with events that transpired in the video game Star Wars: Battlefront II.

Spoilers follow for both Star Wars: Battlefront II and The Last Jedi...."

From what I've heard the game is fun, but that fun is hampered quickly because progression is tied to the loot boxes which they disabled. Shows you that they were planning on forcing people to grind forever or shell out cash for loot boxes just to enjoy the core game.
