7 Years in Development, $200 Million Cash paid in by players, and now a $27,000 in game purchase added.

No, it's not about the money, it's all about the game. :)

I personally gave up on Star Citizen the second I learned there won't be full-loot PVP. The only reason I ever played space-themed MMORPGs is to roleplay a space pirate. Chasing other human players is fun and challenging, but if it's too limited and/or not rewarding - why even bother, at least for me.

Overall I'm OK with in-game items in MMORPGs purchasable for real currency - as long as there's player character carrying the items can be killed anywhere, including the safest zones - even if there are penalties for attackers - and will loose them all, or at least will be punished very heavily in some other way. Otherwise - pass.

I only loosely followed Star Citizen's development... never invested any money in it... and its a good thing I hadn't.
Who in their right mind would spend that kind of money on a game?
    Its not worth it.

I can think of several different ways to spend $28000... how about on Geothermal heating and your own in-door omega hydroponic garden that grows crops up to 5x faster by forcing them to fight against gravity?

The number of snake oil selling commercials on television/internet tells me people are easily duped into buying all sorts of useless garbage.

It blows my mind that 1) people would spend even $1000 on a game and 2) spend any money on an in-development game.

I knew this game would fail as soon as the details were announced. There is no focused vision - it's just a wishlist of multiple games rolled into one. Money does not make a good game if the vision behind it is so unfocused (one of the reasons Mass Effect Andromeda failed). If they wanted a space-sim they should have made one, if they wanted a single player RPG they should have focused on that rather than making all of these games rolled into one.

Star Citizen teases a new alpha because finishing games is for suckers
    JEFF GRUBB@JEFFGRUBB JUNE 11, 2018 4:10 PM
    https://venturebeat.com/2018/06/11/...alpha-because-finishing-games-is-for-suckers/

"Star Citizen first went into development eons ago, and now it is back for yet another tease at The PC Gaming Show today at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Is it coming out? Is it even a video game? Why is any of this happening?

I don’t know, but here’s the trailer about the game entering version 3.2 of its playable alpha.

Star Citizen is ostensibly a game about exploring space online in ships that costs thousands of real-world dollars. It started raising funds for its development in 2012. I’m sure it will eventually involve cryptocurrency at some point."
