    Hi guys,

Can you see any issues using this SSD in my M18x ?

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Di...D+for+alienware+m18x+r2&qid=1588762111&sr=8-5

Is this compatible with the current connector?
Is there a m.2 sata port inside the m18x? i seem to remember a narrow port, but without opening it up again, cant be sure.
Or do i have to go 2.5 inch sata or could i use both in any combination etc?
Can you boot windows from a m.2 ?

    thanks guys for your expertise.

the M18x R2 doesn't have m.2 slot, it has an mSATA one, which unless you like to be stuck at SATA2 i suggest you get a regular 2.5" SSD unless you've used up all 3 slots :)

^^^ What he said. If you get a new 2.5" SSD just make sure you put it in slot 1 or 3 in the caddy. The middle slot is also only Sata2.

    Hmmm...

I wonder if I should rebuild my array? I think I have my two SSDs in 1&2 and then my spinner for backup on 3... details, details. I guess I can backup, swap, remake the array and then restore. Good thing I'm working from home...

Are your two SSD's in RAID 0? You may be able to just put the one that's in slot 2 into slot 3 and the controller may be able to figure out what you're doing and keep your RAID without having to mess around with anything. I'm guessing that since one of them is on sata2 then it pulls your sata3 drive down to it's level.
