i have been researching notebooks that will fully serve my needs and still be reliable and cost effective. The mac definetly has the quality and features in media and portability but i would rather not make the transition from PC if i don't have to. As far as i see the vaio series is the PC equal to the mac especially with all the integrated software and media. I would like to know the quality and reliablability of this brand (it's a shame i have to even ask) as it's pricey like the Mac. thanks - Glenn

    Hi Glenn,

I like the Vaio Z1 and TR series. The TR is sub-notebook so it won't fit your needs. The Vaio Z1 is the multimedia desktop replacement series from Sony that comes with DVD RW, USB 2 and many other goodies. It's loaded, battery life isn't great and it's a little big but overall a fantastic machine. I wouldn't go with the FRV series or mid-range notebooks from Sony because they're just okay and the warranty is only 1-year which is not very good.
