    I installed semi-clean Vista on my SR490

But after installing Sony Shared Library, I can't seem to be able to install Sony Notebook Utilities. It says that "This update is not intended to use with your computer model"

What did I missed? Is there any kind of OEM thing that I should Install first? Thanks!

are you getting the right driver for your notebook? tho, you can bypass the check by accessing your windows folder, and there will text file generate when you try to install the driver which not intended for your notebook model. or you can use uniextract software. just my idea.

    * i forgotten whats name of the generate text file.. but you can see its there. just rename the model name of the intended driver, you can bypass it.

i usually factory install via dvds and do the cleaning manually after that.

You mean c:\windows\model.txt ? I don't have to change it, its correct.
I didn't understood that generate text file...

Try instruction # 4 - about downloading Universal Extractor. Worked when clean-installed for my FW. Had some of the later updates would not install. Did as discussed in his second para 3 on what to do with the program to get solely the drivers in .exe format.
Worked for me. Worth a try...

BTW: Thanks to roninwz for the instructions

thanks! I already managed to extract it. It's really dissatisfying that Sony program itself doesn't recognize its own hardware.
