The stitching and materials are outstanding on the Orion Backpack.....please provide a source on where otherwise has been indicated. Mobile edge uses military grade nylon and stitches everything heavily. I can swing my back onto my shoulder with 30 pounds in it and not one strand pops. It is an immensely sturdy and well made bag.....I have 3 mobile edge backpacks and they are all incredibly strong. I would not recommend any other brand, period.

I second that, scook - the Orion M18x backpack is incredibly well made. For the M18x, I also cannot recommend anything better.

I think it is the Orion Messenger bag (not back pack) that NYC Drifter had some quality issues with, such as stitching coming loose.

Yes the messenger stitching failed. I posted pics in this thread. The backpack has been fine though.

Just wanted to put out there that I ordered the Targus Spruce Ecosmart Backpack in hopes it would magically fit my new M18x and it failed by about .5 an inch.

    Sad Panda.

The Orion M18x backpack is pretty good, no problem with materials, but the lower part of the straps that attach to the bag are pretty wimpy compared to the rest of it. Might not be a problem for light use, but my guess is that will be the first thing to go, either long term or if it ever sees a heavy load that it can't handle. Lifetime warranty should handle whatever happens in any case.

Took the orion m18x backpack with me on nightstop yesterday, everything fits comfortably, security gave no hassle over its checkpoint friendliness and it also fitted comfortably in the cockpit next to my seat. No complaints about this backpack! Built quality appears to be very good.
