Do you think that this sleeve (PROVANTAGE: Lenovo 57Y4294 ThinkPad 14W Sleeve) will be the right size for the ThinkPad Edge E420 (14" screen)? I just want to make sure, as to not waste 20$ on something that doesn't fit. If someone has experience that'd be great.

Also, if you know a better sleeve you think I should buy, please tell. I'm ready to spend quite a bit on it. It's better to pay a little extra to get a good one at first, so there won't be any need for a replacement.

PS: I don't want a case, because I'm going to be taking this laptop to school with me on bike; A case wouldn't fit into a backbag.

    Thanks in advance,

    Valmancer

I apparently shouldn't have advertised Provantage at all. They apparently only ship thinkpads inside the US even though they advertise as a international company.

I have a thinkpad edge e420 and I have that sleeve, I think it sucks, it is very thin and provides little protection, it is also way too big, it is at least two inches deeper than the laptop. I am looking to get a Case Logic, or Case Crown from Amazon, i have had those and they fit well.

I have the e420 and the case logic sleeve (model PLS-14). I like it. It has a side pocket for your power cord. Many complain that it bulges with the cord in there, but what do they expect? The build quality seems OK. Inside is soft micro suede stuff.

The only minor complaints I have with it are:

    - After putting the cord in it, it seems to stretch the pocket and not bounce back all the way. Not a big deal for me.
    - The depth (front-to-back on the laptop) is about 3/4 of an inch too much for this laptop. Again not a big deal, as it doesn't slide around too much.

    I didn't try any others.

I hope to never have to buy another sleeve that's not from Waterfield. I'm constantly amazed how well my bag and sleeve have held up to three years of daily abuse with work and school. They're pricey, but well worth it if you want something to last.

I wouldn't recommend the Lenovo sleeves. They tend to fit very loose and the zipper design makes the edges of your laptop susceptible to scratching if you aren't careful. I had one but returned it.

That said, you don't need to spend a lot to get a good sleeve. Best thing to do is to take your laptop to a local store and try out all the sleeves there to get a good fitment. I bought mine locally for $10 including tax, no name store brand, but it ended up offering more value for the money than name brands. Thick neoprene, quad-stitched edges.

I didn't double check the Edge E420 dimensions just now, but I have a Tucano Second Skin Microfiber Script 14.1" for my T410s and it fits just perfectly. I've also used it with an SL300 and it's a tiny bit loose around the edges.

Here's a link to get you started - JR.com: Tucano BFUS-M141-GV SECOND SKIN Microfiber Script - Laptop Sleeve 14.1" PC -Gray in Computer Carrying Cases. The price is pretty good, too. Adorama used to carry it also . . .

I did a lot of research before buying this since I didn't want a sleeve that was made to fit all laptops between 13"-16". eBay has loads of cheap (junk) sleeves and wasn't much help. Although I thought 14.1" was a popular size, I found it very hard to locate a good, simple sleeve. I really can't stress how perfectly this Tucano matched what I was looking for. It has a fuzzy microfiber exterior, a small stretch flap inside to anchor the top of the laptop, and is sewn in a way that creates an internal cloth tube (It could be called "piping") for additional padding from bumps. I use it in two ways - to carry the laptop alone and also for extra protection inside a backpack while traveling. I'm glad that it has no handles and no pockets.

Compare the E420 dimensions with the T410s and the Microfiber Script's interior dimensions.

    Hope this helps! :)
