I see MSI is still taking their sweet time releasing the Bios updates. I have Checked a few Skylake / KabyLake laptops in the 2015/2016 release range and not one has been updated as of yet.

Don't think GT72-6Q series is getting the Micro-Code updates in a bios update I wonder why that is.

My desktop MSI Krait Gaming 3x motherboard still hasn't received BIOS update for this issue either. (using the software fix posted earlier until a hopeful BIOS release)

@Robbo99999 I have done the same as a temp fix for Windows OS however its shameful that MSI are taking this long in updating the effected bioses, they need more people in the BIOS Dept thats for sure. MSI Claims to be the first in everything yet thus far they are being the very very last in sorting this issue out.

I'm starting to think that people who haven't received a BIOS update yet won't be getting one in the future! Intel sent out the updated microcode to the vendors all the way back in May, there's been a couple of BIOS updates for my MSI motherboard since then, but none of them contain the microcode fix, they're ignoring it and the news of the hyperthreading bug has dissipated into the background - I think we're gonna have to live with our software fix!

MSI and other vendors respond to owner requests, if noone is asking for it they aren't going to do it, too many other projects that need resources, projects that bring in additional $, supporting things already sold on a marginal need require noise from owners to get those resources.

Ask. Be detailed, but brief, and be specific with links / sources to help them find their way. :)

Just now briefly looked into how to contact MSI with my query you mentioned - you have to register with them on their forums in order to contact them, if only they had a simple e-mail address for customer service, I'm not gonna register at yet another website for a problem that I have a solution for already. MSI are aware of the problem, if they can't be bothered to support their products properly that's on them, if I had a real need for an updated BIOS with the fix included, then I would jump through some of their hoops to contact them on the vague hope that it would spur them on to release a fix, but not as it stands currently.

This will be my 8th contact to MSI, Sent in tickets that just get answered that its getting forwarded and then ticket closes and MSI Notebook UK Twitter just now ignores me out right @hmscott so i have tried to contact them to get the issue resolved by as the notebook is of that with issues to the MXM Upgrade (Still rocking aftermarket GTX 1060 MXM Upgrade without issues) then the chances are is that i am getting ignored deliberately. If thats the case they can send me a programmer and the files for the bios building and i will fix it myself.

Meanwhile people with effected seems still have to use their systems where data loss is a major concern. Not everyone is going to keep patching Windows with new Intel Microcode to fix short comings of a OEM Tech support.
