I finally made time to shrink my Windows 7 1TB volume to 512GB to make room for POP_OS! with Cinnamon on my other desktop. Now I officially do not own a computer that doesn't run Linux. I'm having a bit of difficulty getting the CPU frequency controls working on this one for some weird reason, so I will have to figure that out. It's probably missing something that I haven't identified yet.

I figured out the issue. I had Intel SpeedStep disabled in the BIOS, which works fine on Windows... CPU still hits full turbo/overclock. However, something about Linux does not allow core ratio/frequency control if that is disabled in the BIOS. Re-enabling it in the BIOS allows proper operation of the CPU as well as enabling frequency controls.
