    Hello All,

I know this is an old laptop, but I've been working on refurbishing it to use strictly as a travel machine. New LCD, replacement AC adapter, and a bump from 512 to 768mb ram. I installed Windows 7 Starter, and surprisingly, the laptop runs fairly well. OK, here's my problem, everywhere I look, I read that this laptop will accept a 1GB DDR PC2700 strip to bring the total to 1.25GB. (the board has 256 non-removable). I have purchased 2 different 1GB PC2700 strips, and neither seem to be compatible. The laptop simply will not respond on power-up. No beeps, no bios access, no post behavior. I have contacted Sharp in the hopes of finding a bios update, but no luck. Does anyone here know what the problem might be? Any suggestions here will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Also, I know there was a bios update floating around years ago....if anyone still has the file that they could share......that would be awesome.

Well, if anyone cares, the problem has been solved. Just as a last resort, I ordered a 1GB strip of pc2100 from eBay, instead of pc2700. Shazam! Laptop is running fine with 1.25GB now, an 80GB HDD, and an Athlon 1.6ghz chip (possibly next in line for an upgrade). All's well that ends well. She's got a little life in her yet.
