i just got my new Compaq, the specs are in my signature, i was wondering that since my vedio memory is shared, and i dont quite have the second 512 chip yet (my ram is currently 512)if my games would be slowed down by my lack of memory. if i run the vedio card at 128 that only leaves me with 384 megs of ram.

now i'm not as knowledgeable as some of the guys in this forum, but I can tell you that you'll have problems running those games with integrated graphics...when it comes to games, I believe that it's the graphics card that will make most of the difference, not the amount of RAM.....am I right? (still trying to learn![:D])

sry, i dont think integrated is the right word, its a shared vedio memory, radeon 9000IGP

    Yes, swervy, you are right.

Samwise592, Integrated is the right word, it is Radeon 9000 Integrated Graphics Processor, if I am not mistaken, but I do know the I stands for Integrated. But you are definetaly going to have problems playing all those super high graphics intensive games. I'd suggest if you just got it, and if you would still have enough money, return it quick and buy one with 128 9700 at LEAST.

Cards that will play those games well:

Mobility Radeons x800,x700,x600, 9700, 9800 (but the 9800 is only on dell inspiron xps)
Geforce Go6800, 6600 (if there is one), Go5700

The Mobility Radeon 9600 or the Geforce Go5650 are cards I think just won't make the cut, I would call these more moderate to Medium-High gaming, not the kind of State-of-Art gaming that hl2 and the others you listed are.

But if you really plan to play those games I would suggest returning for whatever the best you can get for the best price, even if it means fallin back into AGP with the 9700 or something, you really would need that more. If you have enough cash, well, the higher the number the better.
