Yes. They did make one for the OD drive. You see them on ebay from time to time.

Thanks. Do you know what that part number is? i.e. what do I search for on eBay?

Lenovo officially calls the part a "travel cover." The part number for the one that fits in the X300 and X301 is 42X5137.

Mine won't power up this morning. It has a little body damage so I think I'll move along to a new machine. Any suggestions? I'm thinking T460 or X1.

add - I'm thinking Thinkpad 13 is the best bang for the buck.

If you want the same level of quality as the X301, you'll have to go with the T460s or X1 Carbon. Avoid the T460. The 13 is pretty nice as well, but you need to keep in mind that it is a budget machine.

Lenovo still has a bunch of new T450S machines in their outlet store. I've been looking at those as well. The 13 is backlogged a month so that is out of the running. I'm also considering a refurb P50S with 24GB and the 256GB SSD for $767. I'm not sure I'd be happy with that large a laptop but it has other features I like and I really don't take it out of the house much.

The T450s is a bit thicker and heavier than the T460s but that would be a great portable. Doesn't the T460s have that split battery? Maybe the T450s is a better option anyway.

Just ordered . . . . . none of the above. I'm typing this on my ten year old Dell XPS M1330 and I just ordered the XPS 13 with 8GB RAM and 256GB PCIe SSD refurb for $818. I went for small and the only real compromise is giving up the Lenovo keyboard. I'll need to get the proper case to use the X301 SSD as a USB hard drive. As for the rest, anyone want it? At least the two power adaptors and two batteries at least may be of use to someone.

The XPS 13 is a decent notebook. The infinity display makes for a small footprint. Good luck with it.
