I am having an issue with the search indexer on Windows 8.
Certain folders on my external hard drive are not being indexed properly.
It was working fine before but recently the hard drive is not being indexed properly, and they are not appearing in the Windows search utility.
Is anyone familiar with this issue?

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Re-index your hard drive. I'm not using Windows 8.x of course, so I'm not entirely sure, but it should be in Indexing Options somewhere.

I have tried to remove and re-index the external hard drive, but for some odd reason it never actually indexes it properly.
There is a particular folder that never actually gets indexed properly, it was working before though.

How do you know it never "indexes properly"? What's in that folder? Do you see any error messages in your event log pertaining to Search? There is the possibility of some third-party iFilter crashing, but we need more information to diagnose this.

P.S.: Another possibility is a folder that is in fact a junction or symbolic link; Windows Search will not traverse such filesystem constructs by design.
