I have a smartphone that I like it, its screen wasn't dropped or broken, but its screen bulges and the light leaks from sides. I'd like to know

    1. Could I get electric shock or hurt if I have a wet hand with this phones because its four sides are open to air... while water or moisture could get through it

Is the battery bulging make the screen like that?

I don't know if the battery has bulged, its internal battery but it has died 99%. The phone only works if it's connected to AC power, and the battery couldn't store any energy now. It turns off by itself almost in a minute if not connected to AC. My plan is to replace the battery only, but if the bulged screen is a problem, I'll then throw it away totally. Replacing battery is cheap

I would be more concerned of that detail as best I understand screens dont bulge on their own.

I don't know if it's considered to be "bulge" or not then.

But the fact is light leaks from two sides (right and left), upper and lower side is fine

What is this? Simply battery issue? If it's that, I 'll replace the battery

In other words, did you mean that Assume my screen is not broken, the reason for light leaking from sides is likely due to battery inflation only??

The battery is bulging because of a buildup of gas from chemical reactions. Replace the battery ASAP if you can, if not get a replacement phone.

Yes, your screen is likely fine, for the time being. Because the battery is swollen, it's pushing the display out of its housing, exposing the backlight of the display. Your screen is, however, less able to resist pressure or temperature fluctations in your phone's current state and could crack. It's constantly under stress as long as the battery is pushing against it. As NB_Neenja said, do not continue to use the phone. Back up photos and other valuable data on your phone if not done already, then power it down and leave it unplugged from your charger.

Look up a teardown guide for your specific smartphone model. You're probably going to need a pry tool if you don't have one already. With any luck, you won't need to apply any heat to remove the rear panel. You're going to want to unplug and gently remove the swollen battery ASAP. Only after you've done that, without cracking the display, and verified that no other parts have been been bent and need replacing is it worth ordering a replacement battery.

Thanks and yes the screen was tested to be fine, the battery bulged, but I threw it then because there was no replacement battery, manufacture of that model has been discontinued.
