    That's what I was thinking.

You're computer would be like, dead, and you'd still have 27+ years left on the thing.

I can imagine that it could be a sort of universal battery for different notebooks,
    kind of industrial standard.

Though, with the notebooks becoming smaller, one day it may turn out that >50% of your lappy's weight is the weight of your grandma's universal notebook battery. :)

The battery can be extremely useful for space missions, though, like the future mission to Mars.

How on earth is this possible?! Can someone explain in simple language the technology involved?

    yea, just beta decay

neutron decays to proton + emits electron

i'm pretty sure this will be too expensive for commercial use, probably for use on satellites instead

wondering how safe it will be though. never know what decay path those crazy neutrons might take

    you know what i think??
companies soon will make the batteries compatible for all their products..and for example:your G1S battery can be placed at C90s,wow :D
then,in the next 5 years..laptops and batteries will be sold separately..
    thus,saving our nature...:D

i reckon they'll probably find new ways of wasting all that battery, increasing laptop performance but decreasing battery to around 2hrs again. ahah
