Armed with a Core i7 processor, the new Samsung Notebook 9 could provide support of up to 32GB of memory. According to Intel, its 8th generation family of processors can deliver up to 40 percent increased performance.

The ‘U’ series of chips will now feature quad-core processors instead of dual-cores.

Aside from this, you will also get a total of 8 threads so that applications that take advantage of multiple threads should be able to run fluidly.

Samsung will also be bundling an S-Pen with the notebook, meaning that not only will you get touchscreen capability but you will also be able to transform the machine into a convertible for media consumption purposes.

Samsung is going to launch its updated Notebook 9 lineup in September 2017.

"Intel’s first drip of information on its new 8th-generation chips will be music to the ears of people looking to buy a laptop before the start of 2018. From 7th-generation ‘Kaby Lake’ to 8th-gen ‘Kaby Lake’ (you read that right, we’ll explain later, we promise), Intel is claiming a “once in a decade” performance boost of 40% generation-over-generation."

The 8th generation Intel Core is up to 40 percent better than the 7th generation. Compared to PC performance five years ago, it is doubled.

In addition, new Cheang's quad-core, power-efficient microarchitecture and silicon optimization technology allow the 4K UHD or 360 degree virtual reality content to be streamlined or edited quickly.

I don't need a heavy touch screen so I'm hoping they refresh the sub-3lb 15" notebook 9 as well. Maybe add a few ounces to increase rigidity though. Also, ditch the dull silver and for gunmetal black like the pro. Really interested in these quad core ulvs though.

The 2018 variants of the Samsung Notebook 9 sport a 13.3-inch (900X3T & 900X3U) and 15-inch (900X5T, 900X5U, and Discreet Graphics 900X5T) Full HD RealViewTouch display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. The notebooks are powered by an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor, up to 16GB DDR4 RAM, up to 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD, and Intel HD graphics. The 15-inch variant offers an option of upgrading to a 2GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics card. All the models will come in Titan Silver and Crush White colour variants. The Notebook 9 (2018) also has a fingerprint sensor, backlit keyboard, and precision touchpad. The Windows Hello camera - for video calls - has a 720p HD resolution. Connectivity options include two USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI port, microSD storage, and a single USB Type-C port. There is also a bundled 65W DC-in adapter. Samsung claims that the 75Wh hexacell battery on the Notebook 9 (2018) is its "largest and most powerful battery placed inside a notebook." Add to that, it also supports fast charging for the company's claimed "always on" capabilities.

The Samsung Notebook 9 Pen and Notebook 9 (2018) will be available in select countries, starting in December 2017 with South Korea, reaching the US in the first quarter of 2018. Both the Notebook 9 Pen and Notebook 9 (2018) will be displayed at CES 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pricing will be announced closer to release.
