While I debate in my head about an MSI GS65 notebook puchase to use NVMe SSDs a recently built a new desktop with a 8700K CPU MSI Z370 mainboard and Samsung 960Pro 512GB.For 3 months the 960 Pro has been working well with me thinking about a second one until I saw the lower price for the new 970 Pro.

The 970 arrived on my doorstep yesterday and was installed in the second M.2 NVMe slot.

I installed W10 Pro x64 and some software/drivers to get it up and running.Once it was running I quickly benchmarded the drive as the C drive and as the D/F drive without any additional tweaking.Attached are my results.

The numbers are significantly higher than numbers I got doing the same to the 960 Pro when it was first installed.

No,I don't have the screenshots but I can tell you that as both the C drive and the D drive the scores were about 1000 less in Anvil Storage utilities.

The 512GB 960 has been my daily driver for about 4 months.

The drive has 4999GB of writes and 4422GB of reads and is 13% filled.

Attached is a shot of benchmarks run a few minutes ago with the 512GB 960Pro as the C drive.

Reran the benchmarks today on the 512GB Samsung NVMe 970 Pro after installing the Samsung NVMe driver v2.1.7.1803

The driver also improved performance on the Samsung NVMe 512GB 960 Pro

This is as a C Drive
