Just bought an NP8954, performance is superb but after like 5 minutes of gaming (not even stressing) the left palm rest becomes a nuclear reactor. It's just so hot I you can't rest your palm on it anymore. I've tried undervolting and brought the GPU from 75*C down to 70*C and the CPU from 85*C down to 75*C and yet the palm rest is still burning!!! Does anyone else have this problem?

What are the temperatures of your storage units?

Does look for sure like a problem with the HDD or other storage on the left side. The GPU and CPU are towards the back more. Do you have a hard disk or ssd in that slot?

The aluminum chassis is going to radiate quite a bit of heat all over. Do you notice the left side being warmer than the right, by any chance?

The left side is the 2.5" bay and behind that under the keyboard is the CPU, contact support, they can run through some tests over the phone with you.

There are other components that can get very hot in there, I'd second others' suspicion that it's a storage device given the location.

Sorry, was a bit busy this week. More information: I estimated the surface of the left palm rest area to be 45°C which is kinda crazy, but Sager support told me it's normal.

yeah, the right side is a lot cooler than the left side

I contacted support and they told me the temperatures I reported are normal, but how the hell is 45°C for the surface of a palm rest normal?

My HDD runs at around 37°C while idle and 42°C while gaming, but my SSD runs at around 71°C degrees while idle and reaches a maximum of 78°C while gaming! I tested with PUBG and Overwatch, both installed on my SSD. Could the SSD be the culprit?
Also I'm using an M.2 SSD.

I've seen SSDs have a max rated operating temp in the 70s C but 78 seems a bit high even so.
