Then i'm not too sure since its also a relatively modern machine. Perhaps it was a buggy version?

The maximum GPU TGP listed on Nvidia control panel isn't always telling the truth notebookcheck.net

Nvidia Ampere GPUs for laptops have become notorious for their wide range of "crippled" power levels even between GPUs of the same model name. A mobile GeForce RTX 3080, for example, may reach peaks of 100 W or 150+ W depending on the laptop. An easy way to know what TGP your Ampere laptop is targeting is to open up the Nvidia control panel and check the system information window.

Unfortunately, laptops will not always reach their target TGP levels meaning you might purchase a model advertising "130 W graphics" only to see the GPU draw noticeably less when gaming (You're by this scammed). We recently reviewed the aforementioned Vector Pro which ships with a 165 W TGP GPU when in reality we could not reach anything above 130 W no matter the application.

This below doesn't look so good for coming gaming laptops. The performance differences between laptops and desktops will increase to the worse.... But you'll enjoy an very thin, lightweight, sleek and pretty gaming laptop. Apple people already enjoy the thin, slim and sick direction.

NVIDIA's Ada Lovelace GPU Allegedly Brings A 2X Uplift Over Ampere At Twice The Power hothardware.com

Forget for a moment that graphics cards are scarcer than unobtanium. We all know the situation by now, and it's still going to be a bit before things change. That said, new products will continue to manifest. For NVIDIA, that means an eventual GeForce RTX 40 series (if sticking with the the present naming convention) and rumor has it those next-gen parts will deliver a huge performance uplift, albeit at a cost.

Intel will follow Nvidia regarding castration of the amount cores and Nvidia drag it further. Yep, the HW manufacturers and the OEM treat the laptops as their unwanted stepchildren.

And we will se an new option to milk/screw the notebook gamers... 3080 Ti Laptop GPU as a new high end mobile graphics card. Now we will get two top dog cards who shouldn't be branded 3080.

Hilariously in the posted benchmark the Ti performance is actually worse. The authors in most of these 3080ti articles speculate that this is a max Q which explains why it was worse or the drivers are off... It's an omen 17 chassis that we all know can do 150w TDP+ reasonably...

Now if they actually allow non-gimped 200w+ TDP on the Ti chip, then we'd see potential gains in full size chassis....
