At least you get a few points more in benchmarks.

Leaked benchmarks show the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 offering as little as 5% better performance than the RTX 3080 for over twice the price notebookcheck.net

More benchmark data about the GeForce RTX 3080 has leaked ahead of the card's official release next week. Based on initial findings, NVIDIA's $1,499 card only just outperforms the $699 RTX 3080 in many triple-A titles and by a margin as slim as 4.7%. The RTX 3090 fares better in synthetic benchmarks, but it can only achieve a lead of 10-20% for over twice the price of the RTX 3080.

Thats why Nvidia called the 3080 their flagship gaming card.

The RTX 3090 is a benchmarking card.

yeah I don't think anyone was expecting this, I just assumed it would be quite a bit more powerful.

anyone else find it funny with pages and pages of speculation nothing is right...i said why would they make the card twice as big with only a less than 10 percent increase in power, and if i remember correctly no one agreed.

Hes getting 60fps on nightmare settings at native 8k/60 and it's a newer game( doom eternal) not the most demading game but lets see a 3080 come remotely close to that..that would mean the 3080 would have to get 4k at 240 fps on nightmare settings granted it was not cpu bottlenecked and to put it bluntly NO it does not get 240 fps at 4k or even close. 1499.99 for alot more power end of story.

If the rumor of the 3080 20GB having the exact same specs but only a bump in memory size is true that's a little undesirable. Depends on how much more money I have to plunk down. I love how nvidia is rumored to be making their entire product lineup somewhat confusing due to projected pressure from AMD. Seeing how I MAY have to upgrade the 550W SFF power supply in my EGPU already due to the existing TGP, adding another 10GB is just going to notch that TGP up further. It seems GDDR6X is probably expensive, I don't see it costing less than another $100, it's probably going to be more like another $200 I don't see nvidia not trying to capitalize on the price of the 20G card, then potentially another $120-180 for a decent 600W or more power supply.. no.. no thanks..

I guess it remains to be seen once AMD announce what they are doing, but I don't think I'm going to be game for dropping another probably $250 minimum, most likely $350+, so just to get another 10GB of GDDR6X. I'm not even running anything at 4K, and if I did get a lightweight 17" with a 4K panel, the odd game that did not work well with 10GB of VRAM i can just reduce the texture quality one notch. Here's to hoping DLSS 2.x proliferates to many more games now that we've seen that it's proven to be a groundbreaking tech for performance while retaining IQ.

HFM I know a little about computers, and wanted to let you know you might want to get the 20gb 3080 as the new consoles are incoming with 16gb and 14gb of vram...ports will need an insane buffer so don't get suckered into the 10gb.
