I need the roller software for a VAIO PCG-882L, for Windows 2000 or XP.

I setup this laptop for a DJ several years ago, put all the drivers on a CD-R, which he lost. When the laptop's software got so boogered up the only way to fix it was a clean install, SONY had removed the roller software from their website. I was able to find roller software for other VAIO models but none of it would work.

No explanation as to why SONY removed the software, it was just gone and it's still gone.

So for a few years he's had to live without the quick access click and roll to his music and other programs. It's needing a clean install again and I'd like to have the roller functional again.

Does anyone happen to have the roller driver/software specific to the PCG-882L? SONY's site says it's also known as the IRX2120UB, PCGGR270K, PCG882LK, PCGGR270K, PCGGR270KCT1 so I assume the correct roller software works for all these, and only these.

Why stay with an ancient laptop like this? It's small, fairly lightweight, and it plays music just fine so it's still perfectly good for mobile DJ use.

The actual name for it is the Jog Dial.

I found a some files on the Sony FTP site, not sure which are the correct ones.
    ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/Vaio/JOGDIAL/

    Also found this site:
    http://www.driversforsony.com/update-sony/jog-dial-device-drivers-download/
which tries to get to you download some driver booster software (don't).
but if you look closely, you can find some of the download links to the jog dial.

I downloaded the whole jogdial folder from the FTP site. I'll have to get the laptop's owner to bring it to me so I can see if any of them will work. None of the variant model numbers for the PCG-882L are listed on the driversforsony site. :(

Would be nice if the FTP site had a text file listing the contents and application for every file. Some have useful info in the directory and/or file names but much of it is just cryptic nonsense names.
