There you have it, try with another CPU. Any 6th/7th i3, i5, i7 will work.

Go to any repair shop and ask them if you could pop another CPU in there for testing.

shoot meant to edit my post fast. So the CPU gets warm and so does the GPU. Only difference is that the fans kick in only when both are plugged in. I do get the 2 second high speed fan whirr though for both

    Like I said before.
Find and test with another CPU and another GPU and if all fails, probably you have a dead mobo.

    Now to find an mxm...

Don’t know if this helps but removing the vapor chamber seems to allow the fans to spin. When I reapply it they sometimes don’t work.

One of the right shape, a 1060 is the lowest easy card to fit.

Sadly don't know anyone next to me with a spare GPU. Gonna send it to HIDEvolution and pray that it's the mobo that's bad.

They should at least be able to diagnose it more easily :)

    Random question:

Was able to get someone to let me borrow their eGPU enclosure, could I try POSTing with that? I do have a Fermi card (gt 630) i can use on it.

You can try certainly, the system may panic and shut down after a little bit due to no GPU signal from the internal slot but it's not going to hurt.

Jeez does the laptop really care about that mxm slot? As long as it posts I’m fine. Though that feeling will end with the cost of a 1080 mxm
