If it's 'just' a T470 with a proper keyboard and status lights, that'll be (useful but) slightly disappointing ?
Just noticed that the T470 has absolutely massive bezel space around the display as well, wish they could tighten that up a little and make the system a little more compact and slick.
I got you.

Retro & T470 Comparison
Looks like a "work" laptop, went through a number of those over a long time... not something I would want for myself... but I can understand the appeal.
Disappointing that they did not bring back 4:3
probably ulv internals too.
nothing but a "typer" in that case... which they already have a great one in the X1 Carbon
T470 is ULV only, yes.
Although the mb has a bga provision for a dgpu according to nbc...
Hmm, still not sure. Thought it was disappointing, but then putting it alongside the T470 makes it look a lot better. Just don't put it next to David Hill's original concept which tightens and cleans up the design some more (and has some status lights !). So still not sure / slightly disappointed, but it's better than a T470. Guess we wait for better pictures and specs.
P.S. For some reason I have an irrational dislike of the "Anniversary Edition <plus red smudge, "25" ?>" bit being above the keyboard. Small detail, but wish it wasn't there.
This is pretty disappointing. I could have dealt with a 16:10 screen, but 16:9 is terrible. Looks like I'll have to wait to see what Google does with the next Chromebook Pixel.
