    the S1 is probably more audible cuz it is probably tuned more aggressively, and might come equipped with higher grade hardware. i don't really keep up with rally racing, so i don't know much about the S1.

    the backfire is normal in all race cars. it's just the result of more fuel being introduced into the system because of a much more aggressive tune.
    eh. blow off valves are a much more common term now a days cuz all forced inducted cars have some kind of bypass valve. depending on the setup, the bypass valve will have a different name. it's much easier to just use a universal term like "blow off valve".
    u could also be talking about turbo surge. a force inducted car (turbo or SC) makes so many different $exy sounds, at different times, it's kind of hard to know what u'r describing without u actually being able to describe it. :p
