I have a failed hard drive and I am going to use the USB installer to re install windows 10 pro onto this device. Will it just activated again?

Re-installation, be it back to the previous version of Windows Home or Upgrade to Windows Pro, the most crucial part is the license number on the bottom of ur device, for re0registration purpose.
However, should ur license number label at the bottom of ur device had lost or damaged, u can still install as unregistered device, but there will be a "watermark" pops up after some periods of usage, with some features disabled... what i know so far, got to do with wall paper.

Should activate automatically once you connect to the web. Don’t punch in your license key during re-install. Skip it and continue the Windows install.

Isn't the Windows key stored in BIOS for preinstalled devices?
