There are three different modes, but whichever maximum I choose (144hz or 60hz) is applied to all three modes. I would like it to run at max 60hz on battery, and swap to balanced settings. When I start a game, I would like it to go up to 144hz without me having to pull up the software again to reset the maximum.

Or does it already do this automatically?

No you’ve to manually change it, there’s no automatic display refresh rate switch technology yet, for performance mode there’s already azure Ai from intel that is used on some Gigabyte laptop but it’s not optimized yet and still better tweaking manually. For now automatically change feature on optimus laptop only for gpu between intel gpu and nvidia.
It’s not too hassle change the refresh rate or manually switching performance or battery mode to max the battery life is it?

That's what I suspected. I just expected something so obvious to be included in a laptop with such a nice build quality. Thank you!

    Sign me up Scotty!
I get my Blade on Monday and I have spent the better part of the day trying to find a sleeve.
So I gotta buy a mouse mat to get the sleeve from it for my laptop? :)
Nothing in stock in my area so what do I do with the sleeve? :(

I’ll ask a dude if they fix this, apparently according users 2018 15 advanced the original 15 sleeve is too big. It’s only workaround to get nice fitted sleeve, personally I like as well the battery inner color that match Blade green color, but kind weird too that I’ve to buy mouse mat lol. The dimension is similar with xps15 and MBP15 2016~ I believe so you can choose the one you like.

I'm wondering what the temp would be like w/ i9 CPU under medium workload. I‘m getting stable temp at around 80-85 on ultra high settings on games with custom-built cooler, if i9 can be tuned at around 85-90, I think it shouldn't be too bad?

The i7 8th gen in the current RTX models can reach up to 90c in a 23c room according to my testing with the high performance GPU profile on by the way so both are stressed. The CPU is using about 45watt during gaming. The i9 versions are known to use a solid 90watt and sometimes even more when fully boosting. So I doubt they can keep it cool without throttling it.
