    The Foreigner 8/10

An atypical Jackie Chan action thriller with more Pierce Brosnan than Jackie Chan. No schick, just a very impressive movie. I think it works.

IMDb is giving it 7.4 out of 10. Rolling Stone 4 out of 5. Rotten Tomatoes 59%. Roger Ebert 1 out of 4.

No idea what Ebert is doing here, but it's well worth your time.

I keep seeing Burt Reynolds out of the corner of my eye when I see that image.

Just saw it and I agree on almost every point.

Almost because I was actually a little creeped out by that scene the holographic gf and the non-holographic one.

Wonder if we can expect a darker final cut like with the original?

Hope so; wasn't too impressed, tbh. Atmosphere was great and merges nicely, but the story was a bit ... thin. It's all a rather extended run-up to part III, it seems. And missed Vangelis as well, though it did have a few copied snippets of its predecessor's marvelous soundtrack at the end.

Just to be clear; good movie, but nothing like the original. Would rather watch Moon (2009) again over BR2049, for instance.

Hardly an information-overload, but did have some previously-unreleased footage. Narrated by William Shatner for some unfathomable reason (doing a nice job, though).

I'd add to that it was very well cast and acted. I don't know how to quantify it, but a lot of reboots/late sequels feel like everyone just showed up and did their thing and the movie rides on how much talent they bring , BR2049 did not give me that impression at all.

Loved it! I actually didn't realize that this movie was written by the same guy who also wrote Sicario and Hell or High Water.
No wonder why I liked it so much!

    Atomic Blonde

Some good fight scenes, but overall felt kinda flat to me. Barely made it to the end. Also, Google Translate strikes again!
Good music tho, but it's kinda hard to screw it up, given that 80's had some good music. Two complains tho and both regarding New Order's Blue Monday - they used bad version ('88 release) and also movie included some dreadful remix of the song...

I don't any Debora Harry/Blondie songs in the soundtrack. She's the original.

Fight scenes and 80s music? I think I'm sold.

Yes, but the wrong version of Blue Monday just kills it...
