I concur, Gattaca is pretty awesome.

Recently I saw Baby Driver. A very well made summer blockbuster.

    Hear, hear.

Beyond merely aging well, the eugenical methods mentioned in Gattaca are not only tentatively possible today, but they're actually being used (where legal). The hinted division and separation between the can and cannot affords ... pretty much inevitable, I'd think. The movie's also useful as a mnemonic for the DNA 'letters'.

There's Blade Runner too, except at 35 years hence (watch it yearly).

Decent story, but mostly for the good acting by Clifton Webb (Waldo), Oscar nominated.

    Blade Runner 2039
Oh man... I'm speechless... It was EPIC!
This is how you do a sequel! In a way, I think it came out to actually be better.
I have only two complains when it comes to BR2039 - no Vangelis, and Hollywood type ending
Otherwise it was superb! And I didn't even feel that it was almost 3 hours.

EDIT: forgot to mention - I hope we will soon get holographic GFs as a real thing :D

Hans Zimmer no match to Vangelis?

Dude is prolific as hell but I never find myself thinking "Score by Hans Zimmer? Sold."

    Lol exactly.

In case of Blade Runner - yes. Also I think some other guy was involved.
I find Hans Zimmer's soundtracks to be, well, boring. Why does he always have to go with that lame "Inception sound." When I heard it during the movie, I though "oh man, not again..."
Rewatching original Blade Runner and listening to the soundtrack makes you realize how much "fresher" it sounds to the current one. And that's 35 years apart.
Personally, I think this movie deserved a better soundtrack. There was a part in the movie where a sort of electronica started playing, and I though "yes, finally!" But it soon ended and went back to the usual...

The latter of which is most of what's wrong with the theatrical release of the original film (I rather like the voice over, just not with that nonsense ending). I think I'll give the new film and it's Hollywood happy ending a pass until the director's cut.
