Driving through New Jersey, the largest jurisdiction where X is actually used by police, it seems like EVERY automatic door is on X band.

Sounds like mine is mounted the same way. Right now it's just above the mirror, and I also have a mirror mount so I can mount it below the mirror from the mirror stem. I use that when I'm in any other state. I have it wired to the dome lights above the driver. Works well because it turns on when the ignition is on, and off when the ignition is off. I currently have it above the mirror to keep it low profile on the road (VA roads). Starting to use it here. But now I'm considering swapping detectors.

I'm considering selling my Escort 9500i, and getting an Escort Redline, which is undetectable by Spectre units, or Radar Detector Detectors. So that's what I'm currently pondering.

Here in VA, Radar Detector users are at an advantage. Because VA has fines for using a radar detector (Fine is less then a speeding ticket, and they do not confiscate the detector) officers will sit out in the open painting all traffic with radar, which makes it easier to pick up. Mostly here is K and KA. I saw KA last night, just not sure on K since I haven't used my RD here much.
